BIOGRAPHY

Flute lessons in the Bay Area with an expert music educator.

A native of Venezuela, Javier has been involved with music since an early age. He began to play the flute in the world-renowned music project "El Sistema", in which he gained important  experience in some of their youth symphony orchestras. Later, he was a member of the Venezuela Symphony Orchestra and pursued a Bachelor of music in flute performance at the IUDEM, in Caracas. Javier continued his flute studies at the University of Colorado at Boulder and the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, where he obtained his Master and Doctorate degrees in Flute Performance, respectively.  He also has developed a career as a performer of Venezuela's traditional and Latin American music, as reflected in his recordings and recitals with established ensembles and as a guest performer. In Seattle, Javier played with The Agermos CMP, The Mochima Ensemble, and Sabroson. He also founded Montilla Brothers, a music publishing house.
